And so our story goes...

Dar is currently faculty for Fleming College's Visual and Creative Arts Diploma program at their Haliburton Campus. An MFA graduate from the University of Waterloo, her extensive background in fine arts has employed experimental processes with drawing, paint, sculpture and fibre media. During her undergraduate years at the University of Toronto, she apprenticed to masterweaver Velta Vilsons.

In September 2008, Dar's sister asked her to replicate an heirloom throw that they had enjoyed as children. As she researched yarns and structures for the throw, Charly was introduced to and intrigued by the process of the loom. He took up the shuttle with ease. Born in England, he had moved to Canada as a young teenager. Pursuing his passion for material, he had engaged in work in graphics, interior design, illustration, calligraphy and then fine carpentry.

This vibrant team now designs, dyes and produces these soft-as-thistledown throws using the finest kid mohair blend of yarns. Each unique WHEW throw is truly a work of art whose broad signature encompasses profiles ranging from the subtle nuances of contemporary interior design to the playful kitsch in the tradition of the Great Canadian North!

We look forward to meeting you!
